Transport Media have been appointed to manage a bus rear advertising campaign for STEM Sixth Form Academy; an acronym of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, STEM Academy is a brand new educational establishment due to open in the London Borough of Islington in September 2013. The campaign is intended to raise awareness through the promotion of a February Open Day, generating interest amongst prospective 16-19 year old students.
Designed by City-based Rapidity Ltd, the advert places graphic focus on a science-themed photograph that depicts a girl looking into a microscope, with white and green text boxes placed upon the image to allow clear written communication – including a bright red ‘OPEN DAY’ stamp. Factual information covering event and contact details is spread across the advert, using bold font styles to highlight key points. The trademark Google logo is also attached to the bottom of the advert in order to boost reputability, as the Open Day is to be held at the global corporation’s London Headquarters in Soho.
STEM Academy is intended to fill the local gap in scientifically-focused schools, offering free state-funded sixth form education that will work towards rectifying the UK’s critical skills shortage. Progressing with the digital age, STEM Academy spans its curriculum across the four core areas, not excluding creative topics such as music and design technology, and offers the additional subjects of geography, modern foreign languages and history. The vibrancy and living experience STEM Academy offers includes extra-curricular activities stretching from a whole variety of clubs, societies, sport and adventurous activities like the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Students will also become a member of “Career First”, applying the knowledge they gain to technology and engineering projects using a hands-on approach. STEM Academy will provide their graduates with the academic and technical transferable skills required to enter top UK Universities, directly into employment, into Enterprise as self-motivated Entrepreneurs, or into Advanced Apprenticeships.
