A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE
Top West End stars announce celebration of musical theatre
Four of the West End’s leading stars were today (1 July) in the heart
of London’s theatreland to announce a one-off celebration of the best
of musical theatre.
Jodie Prenger (winner of BBC One’s I’ll Do Anything and current star of
Oliver!), Alistair McGowan (BAFTA award winning impressionist and
actor), Graham Bickley (Miss Saigon) and Charlotte Page (Phantom of the
Opera) will be performing in ‘Broadway to West End by Special
Arrangement’ on 4th October at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
To celebrate this unique event coming to London’s West End the actors
were today joined outside the legendary Theatre Royal by dancers from
London’s Arts Educational School, who will also be performing.
‘Broadway to West End by Special Arrangement’ will be showcasing the
best of musical theatre, with classic favourites such as Carousel,
Crazy for You and Miss Saigon through to the popular hits like Wicked,
Oliver! and Mary Poppins.
A star-studded company of West End artists have come together for this
celebration, which pays tribute to Tony Award Winner William David
Brohn, whose orchestral work is behind all the evening’s songs.
The evening will also be raising money for the children’s cancer
charity CLIC Sargent. “We are thrilled to be working with Richard
Douglas Productions to present this very special event”, explains Paul
Turner, CLIC Sargent’s Head of Major Events.
Turner adds: “For one night only this incredible company of West End
artists will perform some of the finest show music ever written.
‘Broadway to West End’ is sure to be the hottest ticket in town! And
best of all, the money raised will help CLIC Sargent to care and
support the 10 children and young people diagnosed with cancer everyday
in the UK.”
